How PsychCoverage Supports Your Mental Health Patients

PsychCoverage embraces the philosophy that after-hours emergencies provide a unique opportunity to have a positive impact on the longer term treatment goals of mental health patients. We refer to this type of patient support approach as “brief case management.” We recognize that not all private practice psychiatrists have the ability to hire full time RNs or case managers to provide this kind of service to all patients in their practice, making our services invaluable.

Our experience has taught us that patients calling in seeking support after-hours are self-identifying as patients most in need of the kind of support an experienced RN or case manager can provide.

In addition to providing callers access to a mental health professional to address the immediate reason for the call, we see each after-hours encounter as falling into one of the following categories of brief case management:

  • Patient Education
  • Medication Teaching
  • Side Effect Management
  • Coaching and Decision Support
  • Monitoring and Safety
  • Family Support
  • 12 Steps
  • Community Resources

There are many […]
